We spent the 4th of July weekend at the cabin working on some projects and getting a little relaxation in.

More fun at the art classes with help from big sis

Jacob spent a few days with my mom and dad while I went to a conference in Ft. Collins.  He insisted on wearing his 3rd eye.

And then he spent another couple days after we got home wearing two extra eyes.  He is a very funny kid who really likes to embarrass his sisters.

The girls had their Softball State Tournament in mid-July.  Both did so well!

This is the incoming ball for Maya's Home Run hit!  I wish I would have videoed it instead!  It was awesome!

Do you see Jacob in there?  This is how we all felt at the end of the long weekend!

We took a step back from 4-H this year in order to play softball and spend more time as a family and at the cabin during the summer.  The kids each did a few projects and did really well with them!

Gabi made an aspen log headboard with the help of our family friend, Kris.

It turned out so well!

Maya redid the interior of the guest cabin for one of her 4-H projects

She laid all of the laminate flooring basically by herself after learning how to use the compound miter saw

Done!  Maya textured the walls, painted, added trim, refinished all of the furniture, selected the bedding, sewed the curtains and sink skirt, etc.

Sometimes Jacob likes to do "track workouts" with me.  We did them this summer while the girls were practicing softball.

We made a trip to Lincoln to celebrate my Grandma's 90th Birthday this year complete with a trip to the Omaha Zoo and a family party.

Jacob attended the Jim Gatchell Museum art classes this summer.

They wore red, white, and blue ribbons in their hair in honor of Seth Rasmusen, the fallen marine from Buffalo.

Joe took Jacob and Maya to Colorado while Gabi & I were at a softball tournament in Billings.  They were able to go to Boondocks with Joe's company party and also to the Aquarium.  They spent some time with my mom and dad as well.

Maya and my mom went on a bike ride to Vern's for cinnamon rolls!

We watched a lot of softball this summer.  Both girls did great and improved so much!

Jacob was a trooper, especially when his buddy, Sonic, came along.

They also played rec ball on their local Buffalo team.  These girls have been playing together for a long time, but this will be their last season together as most have aged out.
