August Adventures

 

August gave us....

 

....More time at the cabin :)

...Lots of opportunities for Jacob to see Papa driving the swather, rake, baler, and combine near our house.  He LOVES to watch these happenings!

Fair & Rodeo Time

Johnson County Fair & Rodeo week is filled with fun activities for the kids.  

 

Gabi climbing the wall at "Fun on the Go" night at Prosinski Park.  She made it to the top and crushed it!

The girls participated in the Klondike Rush Fun Run.  Gabi won the 1 mile race!

The girls had quite a few entries in the fair.  The mostly entered flowers, which I unfortunately did not take any pictures of.  :(  They have been big helpers this summer to water, weed, and care for our flower gardens!  We also went out to the oat field near our house and picked sunflowers to enter.  We also went on a wildflower hike for an arrangement. Maya's wildflower arrangement won reserve champion!  They also made a craft to enter.  Maya made an owls out of ribbons and felt.  Gabi made a wreath out of fabric scraps.

The girls and I went to the Youth Rodeo.  They were able to ride a horse that belongs to a friend of ours.

Summer is the Best!

We had an awesome summer!  Since we traveled quite a bit in the early spring, we decided to stay fairly close to home this summer and enjoy the amazing Wyoming weather.  Here are some pictures from July.

Joyce cooked me a wonderful dinner for my birthday.  Jacob LOVES his Papa Don and talked and giggled with him through the whole dinner. :)

We celebrated Joe's birthday at the cabin!  We stayed the night and went fishing and hiking the next day.

 

 

I took the girls to Sheridan to watch the Wyo Rodeo Parade with some friends.  It was an amazing parade!

Maya is such a great helper in the kitchen!  We try to process and preserve as much fresh food from the garden and Bountiful Baskets co-op as we can.  Here she is pitting cherries and making pesto in the food processor.

Jacob is starting to get used to "woman management," but that doesn't mean he likes it!

The girls participated in the YMCA track program this summer and loved it!

Play Ball!

Maya played t-ball this year and I was able to help coach her team  She is a good little hitter and can run very fast!  We continue to work on staying focused and catching the ball...she is a dandelion picker like her mother.  :)

 

The Rockies!

Gabi moved up to baseball this year and loved it! She was the only girl on her team but it didn't bother her a bit.  She improved a lot through the season and we are so proud of her toughness!
