Here is a picture dump from June!

 

Whenever the cows are grazing around our house, Jacob is glued to the window.  He won't eat his meals unless we turn his chair to look out. :)

 

 

 

Our big puppy, Hudson.  He is calming down....a little.

 

Maya playing with one of her birthday gifts...Brain Flakes.  These things are right up her alley!  She loves them and of course had to sort them by color first.

 

We made a trip out to "Tick Ridge" in June to see the Green Homestead.  This is Phyllis's family.

 

We spent lots of time playing at the park this summer. :)  Jacob loves the slides.

 

Dave & Joyce had a small branding for the 30 or so calves that were too young or not born yet at the big branding.  The kids loved helping out!

4 Generations

 

 

The girls and I hiked Windy Ridge one sunny day.  It was hard to tell that there had even been a fire last November.  Everything was so lush and green.  The trees at the top were very crispy, so we brought home a few burnt pinecones as a souvenir.  

 

 

 

We also hiked out in the back hills to the rock teepee rings and searched for arrowheads.  We found one but lost it on the way home.  :(

Denver Zoo

We went down to Loveland/Denver in June.  Joe always has his company meetings in Golden on this weekend and now the rest of us can hang out at my mom and dad's house!!  The kids and I went to the KL&A family bbq, which was so fun.  My parents and I also took the kids to the Denver Zoo while Joe was at his board meeting.

Mountain Fun

Our very first camping trip of the summer was to our very own Big Horn Mountains :)  Not very far from home, but a great getaway for some family time. Hiking, Campfire, and S'mores!

Jacob is TWO

Our Jacob is such a sweet little boy!  His smile brightens our day.  He is very quiet, calm, and loves his two doting sisters.

Jacob LOVES tractors!  Now he has a big red tractor like Papa Dave's!

Maya is SIX!

Our Sweet Little Maya turned 6!  She is such a smart, determined, and affectionate little girl.  She had an amazing year of Kindergarten and we can't wait to see what is in store for her!

We started the day with Birthday Pancakes before school!



After dinner, we had cake, ice cream, and presents!  My Mom & Dad were here to help her celebrate!




 

 

We had Maya's birthday party the following weekend at the park! She loved having all of her friends and cousins around to play with!  And of course, her awesome special cake from Auntie Manda!

 

April + May

Here are some random pictures from April and May!  We have had a very cool and wet Spring so far!

A rare rainbow over the mountains.  Usually we see them to the East once the storm has passed.

 



My Mom and Dad came for a visit at the end of May.  It rained most of the time.  When we did get out for a walk, Gabi's rain boots weren't much of a help.

I went to Boston for a conference and was fortunate enough to attend a Red Sox game.  It was really fun!

Don plowed, raked, and planted the field closest to our house.  Whenever the tractor was out there, Jacob had to watch him through the window. He said "Tractor! Yeah!"

Jacob's Hospital Stay

 In early April, Jacob started showing signs of illness so we took him to the doctor and she diagnosed him with an ear infection.  By the next day, he had thrown up all he had to drink so was consequently very dehydrated and lethargic.  I took him back to the doctor and she immediately admitted him to the hospital to get an IV of fluids started.  We still weren't sure why he was so sick...they did a chest x-ray and it wasn't pneumonia, they tested for flu and that was negative.  I guess they no longer test for RSV, so we're thinking that is what it probably was.  He was one sick little boy and it all happened so fast!

He was on continuous oxygen most of his stay, but didn't like the mask a whole lot.

 When we first arrived, they tried 14 times to get an IV in and failed. :(  It was horrible.  I stayed up that night and fed him as many syringes of Gatorade as I could get into him.  They gave him some anti-throwup medicine that allowed him to keep it down.  He wasn't a whole lot better the next day so we decided to have the anesthesiologist put an IV in in the OR.  After a couple more tries he was successful so they started pumping him full of fluids.

 With all the fluids pumped in, his face swelled up and he just looked horrible/miserable.  I Facetimed Joe and the girls and was stunned when his picture came up and he looked like this.  He really was feeling a lot better at this point but the swelling doesn't show that.

Jacob went into the hospital on a Wednesday night and came home Saturday morning.  We're thankful for all the love we received from our close friends and family!  He is a tough little guy!

Since the surgery, Jacob has had his adenoids taken out and a new set of ear tubes putt in.  Hopefully this will keep him healthy, happy, and growing this summer!
