Gabi & Maya came to visit a few hours after Jacob was born. Papa Dave brought them over to Sheridan. They were SO excited to meet the new baby and even more excited that it was a boy! They had both been hoping for a baby brother! Auntie Manda and my friends, Tracy & Char, also came to visit us in the hospital.

We were able to go home on 5/31 around 5:00pm. I was so glad that we didn't have to stay in the hospital any longer this time. (We had to stay for 3 days with Maya.) He did develop a little jaundice, so we went back the next morning to get his bilirubin levels checked. They were much better, so we were thankful!
Joe saw this hat in the gift shop and had to buy it for Jacob! Like Father, Like Son! Go Pokes!

When we got to the hospital around 5:30am, I was already dilated 4-5cm. They started pitocin around 8:30 to make my contractions more regular, which helped, but they weren't very strong and didn't help me progress much. Around 1pm, Dr. Gill broke my water and that got the show on the road! I dilated very quickly after that and by 2:45 was pushing. Dr. Gill thought he would be out in just a couple pushes, but then realized that he was "sunny side up" (just like his sister was!) A couple pushes turned into 45 minutes of pushing...without an epidural. Ouch. He came out looking up at his daddy and we both started crying when Dr. Gill said, "It's a boy!" and immediately laid him on my chest. He is beautiful and worth every second of pregnancy, labor, and delivery.
We love all his dark brown hair, his dark bluish-tinted (!) eyes, and squeaky sounds. He has been a great eater and a good baby so far and hopefully will follow in his sisters' footsteps for being awesome sleepers and laid-back little kids. :)
Lots of love, Tara

Congratulations Joe and Tara! He is perfect. Such a beautiful family, and I know your little girls are probably so excited to have a baby brother. I'm so happy to hear he is healthy and the delivery went well.
